After the SSI payment on April 1, millions of Americans on Supplemental Security Income will need to wait until May to get a new direct deposit or check. The good news is that the paydays that Social Security sets for this Federal program are the same for all ages.

Therefore, you will receive the amount you are entitled to whether you are a child, an adult, or a senior. What is more, the ways to qualify for SSI remain the same. Only low-income citizens whose resources are low too can receive it as long as they have a qualifying disability, are blind or are at least 65 years old.

SSI payments in May

Generally, the Social Security Administration schedules a single payday per month. However, there can be some changes when the normal payday is not a business day.

That is, it falls on a Federal holiday or on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday). In this case, the payday may need to be delivered in advance. When a monthly SSI payment is scheduled 1 or 2 days ahead of schedule, it may be sent on the previous month.

Hence, there could be two payments in the same month. Bear in mind that this will be no extra payment or bonus. There will always be 1 payment per month. But the SSI payments will be deposited on May 1 and May 30. June 1 is Sunday, so the payment has been rescheduled.
